CELEBRITIES WHO KNEW STICKING TO THEIR PREFERRED WEDDING AESTHETIC IS ALWAYS THE WAY TO GO

From candlelit minimalism to gothic grandeur, these celebrity couples proved the best weddings happen when personal style leads the vision.

There are three main reasons we tune into celebrity weddings: the aesthetics, the drama, or both. It’s easy to watch a relationship unfold from the outside, whether it ends in happily ever after or a messy, messy divorce. But for a brief moment all anyone talks about is the beautiful spectacle that multiple planners, stylists, and designers helped bring to life.

Celebrity weddings always make a splash. Whether it’s a lavish night to remember or a smaller, intimate celebration, seeing two people you’ve only known through film roles or music careers get married is always a treat. When you have the resources to create the kind of wedding most people only save to their mood boards, you go all out - and that’s exactly what these public figures did.

Wedding season has arrived, so we’re breaking down some of the most beautiful celebrity weddings. While the so-called Vogue Wedding Curse may loom over some of these relationships, what matters most here is how well each couple committed to their vision.

ALEXANDRA DADDARIO AND ANDREW FORM: EFFORTLESS NEW ORLEANS ROMANCE

The first wedding that deserves every bit of praise it received is Alexandra Daddario and Andrew Form’s laid-back New Orleans ceremony. Though the couple later split after years of marriage, the wedding itself remains unforgettable.

The pair met while passing each other on an unusually quiet street in New York City during peak COVID. They got engaged in August 2021 and began planning a June 2022 wedding in New Orleans after being inspired by friends.

With help from a wedding planner, their dream celebration slowly took shape. The famously loud and fast-paced city contrasted beautifully with their wedding photos, which captured a couple moving through the weekend with softness and ease, all through a vintage lens. ]

For her dress, Daddario chose Danielle Frankel after visiting the designer’s studio. She told Vogue she wanted something that felt right for New Orleans and practical for the Louisiana heat. Form wore a Brunello Cucinelli pinstripe suit - a toned-down choice that perfectly complemented her gown.

Keeping with their relaxed aesthetic, they chose Preservation Hall for the ceremony. The historic building, full of cracks and visible age, felt perfect to them; still breathtaking despite its flaws.

Form’s children served as groomsmen and ring bearers, making the ceremony feel even more personal. It was short, sweet, and full of love. The reception moved to Bar Marilo, with guests parading through the French Quarter to get there. There were cheeseburgers, tarot card readings, and a dance party.

The overall look transported viewers to old New Orleans. Warm tones, live music, and Daddario’s umbrella added a sense of nostalgia. One standout photo of the couple posed against green wallpaper feels timeless- they aren’t really smiling, but deeply connected.

Later in the night, Daddario changed into a short pink tulle party dress with neon pink platform heels, a complete contrast from her ceremony gown. The couple reportedly shut Bar Marilou down, celebrating until sunrise.

This wedding stood apart from the oversized celebrity spectacles we often see. It was intimate, stylish, and unmistakably personal.

CAROLYN BESSETTE-KENNEDY AND JOHN F. KENNEDY JR.: THE BLUEPRINT FOR TIMELESS MINIMALISM

You can’t talk about understated wedding aesthetics without mentioning Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr. Married on September 21, 1996, their wedding has inspired couples for nearly three decades.

The pair wed in a private ceremony on Georgia’s Cumberland Island, where privacy was the top priority. The island, located just off the coast, offered a rustic and secluded setting.

Their venue was the First African Baptist Church on the northern edge of the island. Only 40 guests attended. For her dress, Bessette-Kennedy wore a pearl toned Narciso Rodriguez slip gown with a cowl neckline. It remains one of the most iconic bridal looks of all time and helped launch Rodriguez’s label. The silhouette was clean, elegant, and effortless.

Because the church has no electricity, the ceremony was lit entirely by candlelight, and the couple reportedly read their vows by flashlight. The reception was held at The Greyfield Inn beneath a white canopy tent. Their first dance was to Prince’s “Forever in My Life.”

Simple but unforgettable, the wedding continues to define timeless intimacy. The Kennedy’s helped create the blueprint for minimalist luxury in the late 90’s, perfectly finished with Bessette-Kennedy’s sheer tulle gloves.

ANYA TAYLOR-JOY AND MALCOLM McRAE: WHIMSIGOTH WEDDING GOALS

Switching gears completely, Anya Taylor-Joy and Malcolm Mcrae embraced a darker fantasy for their secret New Orleans wedding in 2022, later revealing it on their second anniversary in April 2024.

The couple married in a historic cathedral, with Taylor-Joy wearing a custom off-white Dior gown embroidered with flowers and birds. She carried white flowers, while a dramatic veil framed the look and tailored behind her.

The venue was filled with candelabras and white florals, creating an atmosphere that felt both romantic and eerie.

To celebrate, the couple ate two anatomically correct heart-shaped cake covered in red icing meant to resemble blood. “Yes, I am the vampire Lestat,” Taylor-Joy joked in her Instagram post announcing the marriage.

The entire ceremony felt delightfully vampire-coded, from the candlelit cathedral vows in New Orleans to their follow-up celebration in venice in 2023 at Palazzo Piscani Moretta, a 15th- century palace on the Grand Canal.

Whimsigoth is the perfect way to describe it; a blend of gothic glamour, romance and playful theatricality that felt completely true to the actress’s personal style.
